Since 1992, he is practicing as consultant gastroenterologist & hematologist in Kalamazoo Michigan. He worked as ac linical assistant professor & then progressed to associate professor of internal medicine at Michigan State University.

Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Shaikh earned his MBBS from Liaqat Medical College (University of Sindh) in 1972 and FRCS from Edinburagh in 1984. He retired in 2009 as the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Dow University of Health Sciences, Pakistan. In 2010, he moved to the UK and continues to play an active role in his field. Currently, he is the president of Sindh Doctors Association, UK.

Currently, he is the Manager for the structural wing for the Department of Transportation and Infrstructure Renewal, Nova Scotia Province, Canada. He sits on several professional committes including one the technical committee for the development of Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code CHBDC, CSA S6-14.
